introspective and uplifting original music
Cynthia McDermott
Armed with a board full of effects pedals and a 5-string electric, Cynthia blazes her own path through many genres not often associated with her chosen instrument. Her highly-anticipated album of original music, slated for release in 2024, hones in on her love of jazz, bossa nova and R&B to deliver a collection of songs that both soothe and stir the soul.
She’s been soaking up music since the womb — her dad would play the fiddle while mom accompanied on a guitar rested on her pregnant belly, little Cynthia just inches away from those sweet string vibrations. She’s felt the emotional and spiritual resonance of music deep in her core ever since, and has pursued this passion professionally for 15 years and counting. She spent most of her 20s rambling around the US, Spain and France, formative years that would color her musical tastes and expand the boundaries of her songwriting. Since 2017 she’s been based in Asheville, NC, where she performs around 200 dates a year with her bands MOOD RING (90s/2000s pop, R&B), Para Gozar (Cuban son, bolero), and The Treblemakers (honky tonk, bluegrass).
While this robust gigging schedule allows her to connect with audiences through cover songs they know and love, Cynthia is beyond proud and excited to deepen and personalize those connections with her original music through the upcoming album and in live performances across the country in 2024.
